Description
Old and new come together in this two day workshop exploring the fundamentals of saggar and obvara firing. Through practical demonstrations and hands - on experience, the student will go through all the steps necessary to create beautiful and artful surfaces for their work without the use of traditional glazes.
What to bring
Each student is asked to bring to the workshop 4 - 6 bisque fired items. For smooth surface items, it would be best if the item is either burnished, or prepared with terra sigilatta.
For textured surfaces and sculptural work, the items can be burnished or left without any further treatments. Best results for both processes can be obtained using light or white bodied clays.
